Warm Ivory Handwoven Pure Silk Kancheepuram Varisaipet Saree with Petite Buttas and Multi-Motif Zari Border
Warm Ivory Handwoven Pure Silk Kancheepuram Varisaipet Saree with Petite Buttas and Multi-Motif Zari Border
Warm Ivory gives this handwoven Pure Silk Kancheepuram Varisaipet saree a beautifully luminous beginning. The body is deliberately serene, allowing petite gold zari buttas to appear like small points of light across the silk. Their measured spacing leaves the natural sheen and soft warmth of the ivory clearly visible.
❖ Made to order, not off a shelf. This saree took 42 days — dyeing, threading, and roughly 16 on the loom — to complete.

This is a confirmed Varisaipet composition in pure mulberry silk, with an array of multiple handwoven zari motif stripes stacked across its border. A saree of this type typically represents approximately 8 to 10 active days on the loom, although individual weaving time varies. Woven for Idam Living by skilled artisan families in the Kanchipuram district of Tamil Nadu. Read our story.
Body, Border and Pallu: That restraint makes the Varisaipet border especially striking. Rather than relying on one repeated design, the border is composed as an array of multiple handwoven motif stripes, with Deep Aubergine, Forest Green and touches of Burnt Orange dividing the gold zari into distinct registers, each carrying its own rhythm of ornament. Rows of elephants, smaller bird-form motifs, geometric bands, fine chevrons and closely woven lattice-like sections are stacked one above another, giving the border exceptional visual depth while the individual registers remain clearly separated. The pallu continues this abundance in Deep Aubergine and gold, with a dense geometric central field framed by multiple vertical ornamental stripes. Explore the Varisaipet collection, or browse the wider pure silk Kanchipuram collection for more of this character.
Styling: A deep purple blouse creates the most seamless continuation, while Forest Green offers a striking counterpoint drawn directly from the border. Antique gold jewellery and a polished low bun will keep the styling refined while allowing the extraordinary Varisaipet workmanship to remain the focus.
