Our Community

Idam living was founded by architect Anula Naidu, As a professional architect, design is where her heart is, Born in India growing up in London and later moving to the USA her design aesthetic is shaped by a broad spectrum of influences and methods! But the real heart beat of idam is a resilient women community that it supports! Idam works closely with developing skill in the women community of the Alcoholics Anonymous group. They are the wives and daughters supporting the men in their lives who are fighting alcoholism! Idam provides training in tailoring, embroidery, and other valuable skills to support them!One wave in the mighty ocean of empowered women!

With our targeted training, the small community's skills flourished. They collectively took charge of childcare through a rotational system, freeing up time for creative pursuits. Collaborating closely, our in-house designer crafted beautiful fabrics, which were then transformed into our first set of exquisite blouses. Since that milestone, the community has continued to innovate and refine their craft, never looking back.

This attempt at empowerment integrates mind, body, and spirit, cultivating a supportive ecosystem that nurtures a promising future for their children. The beginning of many more years of supporting women in their journey to create a better life for themselves, their families, and their children, through sustainable product design and production.
