Warm Ivory Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Saree with Deep Crimson Varisaipet Border
Warm Ivory Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Saree with Deep Crimson Varisaipet Border
A Navratri golu evening calls for a saree that feels traditional without becoming overly ornate. This warm ivory Pure Silk Kanchipuram brings colour into the weave in small, beautifully measured details, allowing the quiet ivory silk to remain the focus.
Woven in the traditional Varisaipet style, the saree is defined by its layered multi-band border structure, where repeated ornamental rows give the edge its characteristic ordered rhythm. Handwoven in the Kanchipuram tradition of Tamil Nadu, it belongs to a textile lineage that Idam Living works to preserve and share. Read our story.
Body, Border & Pallu
The warm ivory pure silk body is scattered with petite silk-thread motifs in forest green, raspberry pink and soft coral. Their small scale leaves generous areas of uninterrupted ivory silk, giving the saree a light, composed appearance despite the richness of the border.
The deep crimson red Varisaipet border is the focal point. Distinct ornamental rows of glowing gold zari frame a prominent Mayil panel, where pairs of peacocks are surrounded by floral detailing. Fine leaf and geometric zari bands build the border in layers, while slim forest green silk-thread lines introduce a particularly striking contrast against the crimson and gold.
The pallu becomes considerably richer, opening into deep crimson with a dense geometric gold zari field, long zari registers and elaborate peacock panels. The transition from the restrained ivory body to the richly worked pallu gives the saree a beautiful sense of progression when draped.
Styling Tip
Pair the ivory body with a deep crimson blouse for a closely connected look, or choose forest green to pick up the slender silk-thread accents in the border. Antique gold earrings or a single statement necklace would complement the zari beautifully. Keep the remaining accessories restrained so the multicoloured body motifs remain visible.
