Description

For Aadi Perukku, when Tamil women gather for the traditional river worship festival celebrated at temples across the USA, a warm beige Korvai Kanchipuram saree offers understated elegance for the occasion. Each saree involves two separate weaving processes — the Korvai construction requires body and border to be woven on separate looms before structural interlocking. 8 days on the loom. Woven by our family's artisan weaver families in Kunnam village near Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu — read our story.

The body is woven in a soft warm beige pure mulberry silk with a fine self-textured weave, left deliberately understated to let the border take centre stage. Explore more from our Korvai Kanchipuram silk sarees collection.

The border and pallu are constructed using the Korvai technique, where body and border are woven separately and structurally interlocked on the loom, finished in a vivid magenta and orange with a traditional Pillayar Reku pattern — rhythmic triangular, temple-inspired elements interspersed with ornate gold zari figures. Discover more from our Zari Kattam, Rettapet, and Kanchipuram Pure Silks collections.

A fitting choice for Aadi Perukku, temple visits, weddings, and festive family gatherings. Pair it with a matching magenta or antique gold blouse and temple jewellery in gold.
