Vivid Neelam Blue and Emerald Green Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Varisaipet Saree with Zari Mayil Chakram Buttas
Vivid Neelam Blue and Emerald Green Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Varisaipet Saree with Zari Mayil Chakram Buttas
Like blue skies after the monsoon, brilliant Neelam silk gathers emerald green at its edges. Gold zari moves in precise varisaipet rows, before opening into a seer pallu of long, rhythmic columns that catch the light with every fold.
❖ Made to order, not off a shelf. This saree spent roughly 16 active days on the loom, in addition to dyeing, threading and finishing.

Woven in the Varisaipet tradition, this saree draws its measured rhythm from multiple border rows in silk thread and gold-toned zari. Small mayil chakram zari buttas are set across the body. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 16 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.
Border: layered emerald-green silk-thread bands, narrow gold zari stripes and a central floral zari register. The traditional varisaipet combines panels of silk thread with repeated gold-toned zari registers.
Pallu: a strong blue-ground seer pallu of fine vertical zari rows, stepped lines and repeated ornamental floral and paisley-inspired columns. The seer arrangement is elaborate and densely ornamented in gold-toned zari.
Styling: Pair with an emerald-green blouse, small gold jhumkas and a simple side-pinned pallu. The small body buttas keep the field open, giving the varisaipet borders and rich pallu room to stand out at weddings, temple functions or classical-music gatherings.
