Woven in the Butta tradition, the body is kept comparatively quiet so the spaced gold-zari medallion buttas can sit clearly against the rose-pink silk. The restrained body gives way to much denser zari work at the border and pallu, creating the visual weight associated with classic festive Kanchipuram weaving. Border: A deep Arakku-red contrast border carries dense classic-gold zari, with repeating stylised bird motifs set among ornamental foliage and framed by fine linear registers and a lustrous gold band. The treatment gives the saree its distinctly vintage-inspired Kanchipuram character without implying that the saree itself is antique.
Pallu: A richly woven Arakku-red and gold pallu is visible, with a dense diamond-lattice zari field framed by long ornamental registers of stylised birds, fine linear bands and a broad gold-zari finish.
