Vintage Green Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Butta Saree with Yaanai Ambari Motifs and Arakku Border

Deep heritage green meets Arakku red in one of Kanchipuram’s most enduring vintage colour conversations. Across the green silk, small Yaanai Ambari buttas appear in gold zari, while the richly worked contrast border gives the saree the visual weight and ceremonial presence associated with older Kanjivaram palettes.

Woven in the Butta tradition, the body is punctuated by Yaanai Ambari motifs (the elephant with its ceremonial howdah) placed individually against the deep green silk. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. Border: A broad Arakku-and-gold zari border, densely woven in multiple ornamental registers, creates a dramatic frame against the green body.

Pallu: The Arakku pallu continues the vintage palette with spaced circular zari motifs and richly woven vertical ornamental registers.

Styling: Pair with an Arakku blouse and antique-gold jewellery to preserve the vintage Kanjivaram character, or use a deep green blouse for a quieter tonal treatment.
