Woven in the Vairaoosi Kanchipuram tradition, this handwoven pure mulberry silk saree pairs bright vermilion-red pure silk with closely spaced, fine Vairaoosi zari lines; a row of gold zari Kili parrots appears near the lower edge. A slim, ornamented gold zari floral-scroll border and a contrasting fresh emerald-green selvedge define the edge of the vivid red silk. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 20 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.
Border: A slim, ornamented gold zari floral-scroll border and a contrasting fresh emerald-green selvedge define the edge of the vivid red silk.
Pallu: A seer pallu of dense warm-gold zigzag and small repeating geometric zari, with a vertical register of larger Kili bird motifs and elaborate gold floral borders.
Styling: Pair with an emerald-green or matching red blouse, old-gold earrings and a simple gajra. The crisp red-and-green combination suits Diwali pujas, Karthigai Deepam observances, wedding lunches and Pongal family gatherings.
