Vermilion Red Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram Saree with Gold Buttas and Deep Brown Peacock Zari Border
Vermilion Red Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram Saree with Gold Buttas and Deep Brown Peacock Zari Border
Vermilion Red silk meets a deep, almost cacao-brown border in this handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram saree, creating a colour pairing with remarkable warmth and ceremonial presence. The red is saturated and luminous rather than dark, while the brown provides a beautifully grounded counterpoint that allows the gold zari to glow with particular richness. Across the body, petite gold zari buttas are scattered with generous spacing, allowing the Vermilion Red silk and its natural handwoven texture to remain part of the design.
❖ Handwoven to order. This saree took 40 days, start to finish — from dyeing the silk thread to the final weave on the loom.

This is a confirmed Butta composition in pure mulberry silk, with small individually spaced gold zari motifs woven across the body rather than a continuous ornamental field. A saree of this type typically represents approximately 12 to 14 active days on the loom, although individual weaving time varies. Woven for Idam Living by skilled artisan families in the Kanchipuram district of Tamil Nadu. Read our story.
Body, Border and Pallu: The border is where the saree becomes especially expressive. Large peacocks emerge in luminous gold zari against the Deep Brown silk, surrounded by floral ornamentation and framed below by a densely woven geometric lattice register. The pallu continues the contrast in the same dark brown, arranged with repeated slender gold zari bands that create a disciplined vertical rhythm across the silk. Explore the pure silk Kanchipuram collection for more of this character.
Styling: This is an especially beautiful saree for Navaratri evenings, temple gatherings, festive dinners and family celebrations. Keep the blouse in the same Deep Brown for a classical uninterrupted pairing, or choose Vermilion Red when you want the body colour to continue through the look. Antique gold jewellery, temple-inspired earrings or a single sculptural necklace will complement the zari while allowing the dramatic red-and-brown colour story to remain the focus.
