Vermilion Orange Handwoven Pure Silk KanchiPattu Saree with Rettapet Lines and Rust Manthulir Border
Vermilion Orange Handwoven Pure Silk KanchiPattu Saree with Rettapet Lines and Rust Manthulir Border
A Christmas family reunion — a multi-generational Indian American family dressed in silk — calls for a saree of radiant, festive colour. Fine parallel zari lines run across the vermilion orange pure mulberry silk body, giving the saree its distinctive structured rhythm and understated sheen — a hallmark of the traditional Rettapet weave. Each saree takes 43 days from dyeing to weaving and cannot be replicated by machine. Sourced directly from the weaver families of Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu. Read our story.
The body is a radiant vermilion orange pure mulberry silk, densely woven in the traditional Rettapet style — fine parallel zari lines run across the fabric, giving the saree its distinctive structured rhythm and understated sheen. This is a signature Kanchipuram pure silk Kanchipuram construction, prized for its structured weave.
The Rettapet border is highlighted in rust and manthulir tones, creating a rich contrast against the luminous body. Veldhari zari weaves run all over the border, adding layered texture and depth, while the antique-gold zari detailing lends a regal finish. The bold composition of the body and border gives the saree a striking ceremonial presence. The pallu carries the same rich Veldhari zari detailing in a fuller sweep.
A beautiful choice for weddings, festive gatherings, temple celebrations, and traditional occasions. Pair with a rust or antique gold silk blouse and statement gold jewellery — a temple necklace and jhumkas — for a striking, ceremonial finish.
