Venpattu Ivory Pure Silk Kanchipuram Butta Saree with Manjal Gold Pettu

Venpattu Ivory Pure Silk Kanchipuram Butta Saree with Manjal Gold Pettu

There is a particular clarity to Venpattu ivory in Kanchipuram silk. Here, the body is intentionally kept open, allowing the natural lustre of the silk to sit quietly between generously spaced diamond-shaped floral buttas in warm Thanga zari.

❖ Made to order, not off a shelf. This saree took 40 days — dyeing, threading, and roughly 14 on the loom — to complete.

This is a confirmed Butta composition in pure mulberry silk, with generously spaced diamond-shaped floral zari buttas woven directly into the body. A saree of this type typically represents approximately 14 active days on the loom, although individual weaving time varies. Woven for Idam Living by skilled artisan families in the Kanchipuram district of Tamil Nadu. Read our story.

Body, Border and Pallu: The contrast begins at the Pettu, where Manjal gold builds into a more ceremonial vocabulary. Layered Seer bands, minute geometric textures and framed floral forms create depth without interrupting the simplicity of the ivory body. The pallu becomes the richest passage of the saree. Almost entirely luminous in gold, it opens into a dense diamond-Kattam field filled with minute ornamental geometry and finely worked registers along the sides. The result is a saree built around contrast rather than excess — clean Venpattu ivory against saturated temple gold, with the body remaining serene and the zari gathering gradually toward the border and pallu. Suitable for festive occasions, ceremonies, temple gatherings, cultural celebrations and weddings. Explore the Butta collection, or browse the wider pure silk Kanchipuram collection for more of this character.

Current Look: Ivory and warm gold are returning to the current saree conversation through softly neutral bodies paired with richer metallic ornament. This Kanchipuram interprets that palette through a distinctly traditional vocabulary, with a quiet Venpattu ivory body, measured floral buttas and a Manjal-gold Pettu that gathers into a luminous zari pallu.

Styling: Pair with a Manjal Gold blouse for a rich traditional tonal finish, Venpattu Ivory for a quieter monochromatic look, Deep Arakku for a stronger contrast, or Vadamalli for a jewel-toned festive pairing. Temple gold, antique gold, traditional Lakshmi jewellery, pearls with gold, or diamond jewellery with restrained gold accents complete the styling.
