Vadamalli Purple Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram Rettapet Saree with Layered Mayil Zari Border
Vadamalli Purple Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram Rettapet Saree with Layered Mayil Zari Border
Think of the saturated violet-magenta of a Vadamalli flower at the temple threshold. This Rettapet Kanjivaram carries that deep purple intensity, then draws light through it with fine gold zari lines running along the length of the silk.
❖ This saree was woven over 18 days on the loom in Kanchipuram, using Silk Mark certified pure silk, by weaver families whose craft has been passed down for generations.

The Rettapet structure gives the saree a strongly framed edge, with repeated border bands creating a layered architectural finish. Against that structure, the lengthwise zari lines add a quieter rhythm through the body. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 18 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.
Border: Layered Rettapet framing with ornate gold-zari bands and repeated mayil panels.
Pallu: A richly striped and ornamented purple pallu with repeated zari bands and peacock detailing.
Styling: Let the Vadamalli purple stay dominant with a blouse in the same family or choose a muted antique-gold blouse for evening wear. Temple jewellery, small gold jhumkas and jasmine work beautifully, while the lengthwise zari lines give the drape a naturally elongated look.
Well suited to Navratri evenings, Diwali dinners, classical music or dance programs, receptions and cultural gatherings.
