Woven in the Varisaipet tradition, this Kanchipuram silk draws its architectural character from the arrangement of ornamental border bands. Across the body, oosivaanam takes the form of very thin hand-laid zari filaments in vertical, needle-fine lines, a Vairaoosi-like detail that shimmers when the folds move. The saturated Vadamalli magenta-pink body carries unusually clear fine vertical gold oosivaanam lines with scattered small gold floral buttas; in shadow it takes on deeper plum-rose notes.
