Vadamalli Magenta-Purple Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjipuram Butta Saree with Neelam Gold Zari Border

Vadamalli Magenta-Purple Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjipuram Butta Saree with Neelam Gold Zari Border

Vadamalli Magenta-Purple gives this handwoven Pure Silk Kanjipuram the saturated glow of fresh globe-amaranth petals in sunlight. The colour sits firmly in the magenta-purple family rather than pink, while the deep Neelam blue-purple contrast brings a cooler jewel tone into the composition.

❖ Handwoven to order, not mass-produced — each saree is individually woven by hand, thread by thread.

Traditional gold zari buttas are scattered across the body at measured intervals, allowing generous areas of the luminous Vadamalli silk to remain visible. The small gold motifs punctuate the colour rather than covering it, keeping the body vivid, open and distinctly silk-led.

Handwoven in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. The restrained Butta body develops into a much stronger contrast at the border, where saturated blue-purple silk and classic gold zari create a distinctly traditional Kanchipuram frame. Read our story.

Border: Deep Neelam blue-purple frames the Vadamalli body through broad classic-gold zari bands and intricate floral-vine detailing. The warm gold between the saturated magenta-purple and cooler blue-purple keeps the contrast visually balanced while giving the border a richer architectural presence.

Styling: A deep Neelam blouse continues the contrast directly, while tonal Vadamalli keeps the saturated body colour uninterrupted. Antique gold offers a more ceremonial interpretation. Pair with temple jewellery or pearls, restrained emerald accents, jasmine and a Neelam blue, Vadamalli or antique-gold clutch.

The Vadamalli, Neelam and classic-gold palette works naturally for Navarathiri and Golu gatherings, Vijaya Dashami, Deepavali, Karthigai Deepam, Indian weddings, temple celebrations, arangetrams, classical performances and other festive occasions, ceremonies, cultural gatherings and special occasions.

Care: Dry clean only. Store folded in a soft muslin cloth away from direct sunlight. Do not spray perfume directly on the silk or zari.

Slight color variations due to screen and lighting; daylight photos/videos available on request.

What shade is Vadamalli in this Kanchipuram saree?
Vadamalli is a vivid magenta-purple associated with the colour of globe-amaranth flowers. In this saree it reads as a luminous saturated purple with a strong magenta character rather than as pink or red.
Why is this saree classified as Butta?
Butta is the confirmed Kanchipuram classification for this saree. Traditional gold zari buttas are scattered individually across the Vadamalli body, leaving clear areas of silk visible between the motifs.
How does Deep Neelam differ from the Vadamalli body?
The Vadamalli body is warmer and more magenta-purple, while the deep Neelam contrast moves toward a cooler jewel-toned blue-purple. The difference between the two saturated shades creates the main colour contrast of the saree.
What detailing appears in the contrast border?
The deep Neelam border is enriched with broad classic-gold zari bands and intricate floral-vine detailing. The warm metallic gold creates a visual bridge between the magenta-purple body and cooler blue-purple contrast.
Is the border floral without changing the saree’s Butta classification?
Yes. Floral-vine ornament is confirmed for the border, while Butta remains the classification of the saree. Border decoration does not change the confirmed body type.
How will Vadamalli and Neelam behave in different lighting?
In bright light, Vadamalli appears especially luminous and floral, with its magenta-purple character clearly visible. In softer indoor or evening light, the Neelam contrast deepens toward blue-purple and the classic-gold zari becomes more prominent.
Which blouse colour would best continue the contrast?
A deep Neelam blouse connects directly to the contrast border, while a tonal Vadamalli blouse keeps the body colour uninterrupted. Antique gold is another natural option for a more ceremonial styling direction.
What jewellery works with this magenta-purple and blue-purple combination?
Antique-gold or temple jewellery complements the classic zari without competing with the saturated silk colours. Pearls create a softer treatment, while restrained emerald accents can introduce a third jewel tone.
What length and finishing are included with this Kanchipuram saree?
The saree measures 6.3 m in total, including a 0.8 m running blouse piece. Fall & Pico is complimentary and included as a finishing service. The blouse-piece colour and design should not be assumed unless separately confirmed.
