Vadamalli Magenta Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram Rettapet Saree with Green-Accented Gold Zari Border

Vadamalli Magenta Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram Rettapet Saree with Green-Accented Gold Zari Border

Vadamalli magenta carries this Kanjivaram in a concentrated jewel tone, with the body deliberately restrained so the Rettapet edge can do the visual work. Green silk lines cut cleanly through the classic-gold registers, while the matching pallu becomes densely woven and luminous.

❖ Made to order, not off a shelf. This saree took 43 days — dyeing, threading, and roughly 18 on the loom — to complete.

This Kanjivaram carries a traditional Rettapet construction in pure mulberry silk, with twin-register border detailing framing a saturated Vadamalli magenta-purple body. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 18 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.

Border: Tonal Vadamalli silk is structured by twin classic-gold zari registers, narrow green silk lines, repeated floral-style ornament and fine geometric bands. The green accents give the traditional Rettapet arrangement a crisp colour break.

Pallu: The matching magenta pallu becomes substantially richer through a dense classic-gold zari field with fine geometric lattice work, finished with tonal magenta tassels.

Styling: Repeat the border with a bottle-green blouse, or keep the drape tonal with Vadamalli silk and antique-gold jewellery. Jasmine or a single cluster of white flowers will give the jewel tone a clean contrast. For evening functions, use one structured gold cuff and a dark-green potli rather than adding multiple competing colours.

Current Look: Saturated fuchsia Kanchipuram silk with extensive gold detail is also visible in recent ceremonial dressing. Radhika Ambani's September 2026 Bharatanatyam look used a fuchsia-and-gold Kanchipuram. This Idam Living saree is a separate handwoven Rettapet Kanjivaram, distinguished by its green accent lines and twin-register border structure.

The Vadamalli, green and classic-gold combination works naturally for Navratri gatherings, Vijayadashami, Deepavali, Karthigai Deepam, weddings, receptions, temple programs and classical performances.

Frequently bought together

What makes this Vadamalli saree a Rettapet Kanjivaram?
Its primary classification comes from the twin-register Rettapet border construction framing the saturated Vadamalli-magenta silk.
How do the green accents change the gold border?
The green accents introduce a cool counterpoint between the magenta silk and classic-gold zari, sharpening the border without competing with the dominant Vadamalli colour.
How can this magenta and green combination be styled without becoming too busy?
Repeat only one secondary colour in the blouse or accessories. A tonal Vadamalli blouse keeps the look controlled, while a restrained green blouse creates a stronger traditional contrast.
Is Fall and Picot included with this saree?
Yes. Fall and Picot finishing is complimentary with every Idam Living saree.
Where is this Pure Silk Kanjivaram woven?
Idam Living's Pure Silk Kanchipuram sarees are handwoven for the brand by artisan weaving families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu.
