Twilight Periwinkle Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram Saree with Gandaberunda and Winged Horse Buttas

Twilight Periwinkle Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram Saree with Gandaberunda and Winged Horse Buttas

Navratri garba night at a community centre — nine nights of dance and devotion calls for a saree with ethereal, distinctive beauty. This handwoven pure silk Kanjivaram saree is crafted in the traditional Butta style, where individually woven motifs become the soul of the drape. Each saree takes approximately 10 days on the loom and cannot be replicated by machine. Handwoven by generations of artisans in Kunnam village in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu. Read our story.

The body is woven in a mesmerising twilight periwinkle, 100% pure mulberry silk where soft lavender melts into cool powder blue for a shot-colour effect that shifts beautifully with the light, revealing hints of lilac, cornflower, and icy blue. Scattered across this luminous canvas are exceptionally rare Gandaberunda and flying winged horse gold zari buttas — the Gandaberunda symbolising strength and royal power, the winged horse representing freedom and aspiration, an unusual pairing rarely seen in Kanchipuram weaving. Explore more from our Gandaberunda motif collection.

The contrasting turquoise blue border is richly woven with shimmering gold zari, showcasing majestic yali motifs, floral vines, and intricate traditional panels — a design long favoured for weddings and ceremonial occasions. The grand pallu continues the same elaborate craftsmanship. See more Kanchipuram ceremonial silks.

Style this saree for weddings, temple celebrations, receptions, or milestone occasions where exceptional craftsmanship deserves to be admired. Pair it with a matching turquoise or periwinkle silk blouse and antique gold jewellery for an effortlessly regal look.
