Turquoise Blue Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Korvai Saree with Deep Purple Ornamental Zari Border
Turquoise Blue Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Korvai Saree with Deep Purple Ornamental Zari Border
Turquoise Blue gives this handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Korvai saree a luminous, jewel-like presence. The colour moves gently between aqua, teal and clear blue as light travels across the silk, while small gold zari buttas are spaced across the body to add detail without disturbing the openness of the colour field.
❖ Made to order, not off a shelf. This saree took 45 days — dyeing, threading, and roughly 20 on the loom — to complete.

This is a confirmed Korvai composition in pure mulberry silk. The Turquoise Blue body and Deep Purple contrast border are worked with separate shuttles, their wefts carefully interlocked at the junction while the saree is being woven — the defining structural feature of genuine Kanchipuram Korvai construction. A saree of this type typically represents approximately 8 to 14 active days on the loom, although individual weaving time varies. Woven for Idam Living by skilled artisan families in the Kanchipuram district of Tamil Nadu. Read our story.
Body, Border and Pallu: The border is richly developed in antique-gold zari, with broad ornamental registers, a luminous central gold band and repeated traditional figurative bird motifs framed by fine geometric detailing. The combination of cool Turquoise Blue, saturated Deep Purple and warm gold gives the saree an especially striking ceremonial balance. The pallu becomes considerably richer, opening into a Deep Purple field covered with a dense gold zari diamond lattice and framed by long ornamental registers. The intricate geometry creates a beautiful contrast with the relatively open body. Browse the wider pure silk Kanchipuram collection for more of this character.
Styling: Style it with a Deep Purple blouse for a seamless traditional pairing, antique gold for a ceremonial finish, or emerald green for a saturated counterpoint. Gold jewellery and a centre-parted low bun or long braid will complement the dramatic border and pallu beautifully.
