The body is a deeply saturated turmeric yellow with a subtle temple-gold undertone. Individually spaced gold zari motifs punctuate the silk, adding measured points of ornament while leaving the luminous yellow field largely open. Explore our pure silk Kanchipuram collection.
The Korvai border creates the dramatic transition. The colour moves decisively into Kumkum red to vermilion, where broad antique-gold zari registers carry traditional figurative, floral and geometric ornament. Narrow forest-green lines run through the composition, introducing a cool, jewel-like contrast against the otherwise warm yellow, red and gold palette.
The pallu becomes considerably more elaborate. Vermilion-red silk is densely worked with antique-gold appearance zari, including a repeated geometric central field, ornamental side registers and clearly visible elephant motifs woven in procession. The concentration of pattern gives the pallu a strong ceremonial scale against the relatively restrained turmeric body.
The effect is radiant and unmistakably Kanchipuram: turmeric yellow, Kumkum red, antique gold and a precise line of forest green. Under warm indoor light, the yellow glows while the red-and-gold border becomes especially rich.
Styling: Keep the blouse close to the Kumkum-red border for a classical treatment, or pick up the narrow forest-green detail for a sharper contrast. Traditional antique-gold earrings or one temple-style necklace are enough. Let the broad Korvai border and richly woven pallu remain the principal ornament.
