Woven in the Rettapet tradition, A lustrous golden turmeric-yellow silk field, the colour of ripe marigold petals, carries spaced Mayil Chakram motifs worked in contrasting silk threads, with muted olive-green and warm rust-red accents. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 18 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.
Border: Rettapet twin-register border in deep ink-black aubergine, bordered with gold zari circular floral medallions, small temple-like triangular edging and a sharply visible bright leaf-green silk selvedge.
Pallu: A grand pallu richly occupied by closely set gold zari circular-floral latticework, framed by the dark contrasting border.
Styling: Wear with an ink-black silk blouse and antique-gold jhumkas for a temple gathering, or choose a leaf-green elbow-sleeve blouse to echo the unusually vivid selvedge. A low jasmine bun and a neatly pleated pallu keep the graphic border in view.
