16 Days on Loom
Pure Mulberry Silk
Handwoven in Kanchipuram
A Butta saree: small, spaced zari buttas of stylised peacock and Yazhi-inspired forms scatter across the turmeric body. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 16 active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.
Border An Arakku-red contrast border rises in two stacked layers of gold-toned zari, with a diamond-patterned pettu, repeated Mayil figures and curling Yazhi-like ornamental forms, crowned by a broad zari field.
Pallu The Arakku-red pallu is arranged in long vertical zari-patterned bands, edged by a broader ornamental register of peacock, animal and floral-inspired figures and a substantial luminous zari panel.
Styling Wear with a blouse in the border shade for a traditional silhouette, or choose a restrained silk blouse to let the pallu's workmanship take centre stage. Suitable for weddings, temple celebrations and family occasions.
