Turmeric Marigold Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Saree with Varnajaalam Multicolour Border
Turmeric Marigold Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Saree with Varnajaalam Multicolour Border
A niece’s first saree — an aunt’s gift for a milestone moment. This handwoven pure silk Kanchipuram is built around an exuberant Varnajaalam colour story, beginning with radiant turmeric-marigold yellow and unfolding into peacock teal, vivid cobalt blue, coral rose and saturated rani pink. Handwoven in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu. Read our story →

The pure mulberry silk body is warm and luminous, with a rich golden undertone that makes the turmeric-yellow field appear almost sunlit from within. Petite gold zari buttas are scattered at generous intervals across the silk, adding quiet points of shimmer while allowing the extraordinary body colour to remain dominant. The borders turn the saree into a much more expressive composition. One side moves through peacock teal into vivid cobalt blue, while the other shifts from coral rose into saturated rani pink. Antique-gold appearance zari ties the palette together through floral ornament, medallion-like forms and finely worked registers. The pallu becomes dramatically richer in rani pink, densely woven with antique-gold chevron geometry and ornamental bands.
The result feels unmistakably Kanchipuram yet wonderfully painterly. Warm turmeric yellow gives the saree its radiance, cool teal and cobalt introduce depth, and the coral-to-rani spectrum creates a vivid celebratory finish. Varnajaalam should remain an editorial description of this extraordinary colour treatment; the confirmed Kanchipuram classification remains Butta.
Styling: Anchor the many colours with one compact antique-gold choker, ideally with small ruby-toned or green accents rather than a heavily multicoloured setting. Keep the earrings restrained, choose a clean turmeric-yellow or rani-pink blouse, and let the cobalt, teal and richly woven pallu remain fully visible.
