Thulir Green and Black Thulasi Maadam Butta Pure Kanchipuram Silk Saree
Thulir Green and Black Thulasi Maadam Butta Pure Kanchipuram Silk Saree
Pure Kanchipuram Silk in Thulir Pachai—the lively green of the first tender leaves after rain—set against the quiet drama of a near-black border. Handwoven golden zari forms an intricate procession of Thulasi Maadam buttas, divided by precise Vanki Pettu geometry. The green seems to hold the freshness of a new monsoon morning, while the dark pallu unfolds in a ceremonial sweep of luminous gold.
❖ Woven on traditional handlooms by artisan families in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, where generations of weaving knowledge shape every saree. Approximately 16 active days on the loom, followed by careful finishing.

16 Days on Loom
Pure Mulberry Silk
Handwoven in Kanchipuram
A Butta saree: Thulasi Maadam zari buttas are arranged in a structured grid across the tender-leaf green body, separated by Vanki Pettu geometry. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 16 active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.
Border A broad, predominantly plain near-black contrast border, restrained by design to balance the richly worked body.
Pallu Grand gold zari weaving against a black ground, in a Mullai Pettu, Malli Moggu and diamond-grid composition, with additional ornamental bands along the edges and vivid green tassels.
Styling A black silk blouse, traditional gold jhumkas and a simple braid keep the green-and-black contrast striking. Suitable for temple visits, festive evenings and family celebrations.
