Steel Grey and Maroon Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram Saree with Kamalam Butta and Varisaipet Border

The Korvai construction joins body and border structurally on the loom: body and border woven separately and interlocked, producing a strong seamless junction between contrasting sections.

The border is maroon silk carrying a dense Varisaipet structure in gold zari — traditional multi-band border structure with repeated woven lines — floral and leaf motif bands layered in the classic Kanchipuram ceremonial register, the gold zari dense and even across the full border width. The pallu continues the maroon ground with the same Varisaipet banding at full pallu scale, the steel grey and maroon Korvai contrast one of Kanchipuram's most quietly authoritative colour combinations.
