16 Days on Loom
Pure Mulberry Silk
Handwoven in Kanchipuram
A Varisaipet saree: spaced silk-thread Kamalam buttas, delicate round lotus medallions in purple, rest on an unpatterned lavender silk ground. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 16 active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.
Border A deep royal-violet border built in stacked pettu registers: repeated Mayil forms, finer ornamental rows, dark green and violet silk-thread accents and luminous zari bands.
Pallu A lavish violet pallu unfurls in long vertical Varisaipet bands, combining silk-thread purple, violet and subtle green with zari. Repeated peacock registers and finer patterned stripes culminate in a densely decorated horizontal Mayil band.
Styling Wear with a blouse in the border shade for a traditional silhouette, or choose a restrained silk blouse to let the pallu's workmanship take centre stage. Suitable for weddings, temple celebrations and family occasions.
