Soft Ivory Checked Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjeevaram Saree with Raspberry-Red Varisaipet Border
Soft Ivory Checked Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjeevaram Saree with Raspberry-Red Varisaipet Border
Tailored in mood yet richly ceremonial in detail, this Soft Ivory Pure Silk Kanjeevaram is a striking interpretation of Varisaipet, recognised for its orderly sequence of zari bands that create a measured, lined border effect. The body begins in a luminous ivory base crossed with exceptionally fine multicolour checks, while the vivid raspberry-red border and warm gold zari give the saree its unmistakable sense of occasion. Handwoven in the Kanchipuram district of Tamil Nadu for Idam Living. Read our story and meet the weaving community behind our sarees.

Body: The pure silk body has a soft ivory base crossed with incredibly fine checks in forest green, deep berry, muted black and touches of raspberry. From a distance, these miniature lines melt together into an almost silvery, softly shadowed neutral, giving the saree an unusually subtle surface despite its complexity. The effect feels both heritage-rich and unexpectedly refined, like an old checked textile reinterpreted in luminous silk. Explore our pure silk Kanchipuram collection.
Border: The border changes the entire mood. It moves from raspberry-red toward vermilion and is edged with a sliver of intense pink, then enriched by warm gold zari. A succession of geometric, textured and ornamental zari bands gives the border an almost architectural character. Against the quiet checked body, the contrast feels bold without losing its sense of tradition. Explore the wider Varisaipet Kanchipuram collection for more of this character.
Pallu: The visible pallu opens into a saturated raspberry-pink field animated by warm gold zari stripes and a central zari panel. This richer end piece gives the saree a ceremonial finish while remaining in dialogue with the border's vivid red-pink palette and gold structure.
Styling: Keep the styling refined so the miniature checked body and strong border contrast remain the focus. A plain raspberry or deep berry blouse, compact antique-gold earrings and a few slim bangles will sit beautifully with the saree. Wear the hair in a centre-parted long braid brought over one shoulder, allowing the overall look to feel rooted, composed and quietly traditional without becoming heavy.
