Smoky Olive Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjeevaram Saree with Antique Gold and Faded Turquoise Ornamental Border
Smoky Olive Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjeevaram Saree with Antique Gold and Faded Turquoise Ornamental Border
Chosen for a daughter’s birthday, her first grown-up silk saree, this handwoven pure silk Kanjeevaram has an unusually atmospheric colour story. Smoky olive and muted moss are covered with exceptionally fine yellow-gold appearance zari lines, allowing the surface to shift between green, bronze and luminous antique gold as the silk moves.
❖ Handwoven to order over 40 days — dyeing through to the final weave, no two pieces identical, roughly 14 of those days on the loom.

The body is visually disciplined, with the very fine metallic lines creating a continuous directional rhythm across the pure mulberry silk. Rather than relying on large motifs, the changing interaction between the charcoal-olive ground and old-gold surface gives the saree its quiet richness. The confirmed Kanchipuram classification remains Butta; no narrower body-motif identity should be inferred without separate confirmation. Explore Pure Silk Kanchipuram sarees →
The border becomes considerably more ornate. Antique-gold appearance zari is layered with powdery aqua, muted turquoise and soft blue-green details through large paisley-inspired forms, floral ornament and intricate scrolling elements. The richness has a distinctly Banarasi-inspired aesthetic, but the textile itself remains a handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram saree.
The pallu continues the old-gold language with a densely woven metallic field and fine repeating geometric detail. Smoky olive beneath the zari gives the gold unusual depth, while the faded turquoise accents prevent the palette from becoming overly warm. The result feels earthy, historic and quietly opulent rather than overtly bright.
Styling: Use kundan sparingly so it echoes the antique-gold surface without overwhelming the delicate turquoise detailing. A compact kundan necklace or refined earrings with softened green or pale blue stones will work particularly well. Keep the blouse simple and the pallu open enough for the intricate ornamental field to remain visible.
