Smoky Mauve Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Butta Saree with Grand Kamalam Zari Border
Smoky Mauve Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Butta Saree with Grand Kamalam Zari Border
A beautifully nuanced Smoky Mauve gives this handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram saree its distinctive character. The silk moves between muted mauve, antique rose and softly shadowed lilac tones as it catches the light, while petite gold zari buttas are scattered across the body with generous breathing space between them.
❖ Handwoven to order. 40 days, start to finish — from dyeing the silk thread to the final weave on the loom.

This is a confirmed Butta composition in pure mulberry silk, with petite gold zari motifs scattered across the body at measured intervals. A saree of this type typically represents approximately 16 active days on the loom, although individual weaving time varies. Woven for Idam Living by skilled artisan families in the Kanchipuram district of Tamil Nadu. Read our story.
Body, Border and Pallu: The softness of the body is dramatically grounded by a deep aubergine border, almost blackened in its darkest folds, with vivid raspberry-magenta woven bands introducing a jewel-toned flash between the dark silk and warm gold zari. The border is dominated by grand Kamalam zari medallions, woven in concentric lotus-petal geometry — each large circular bloom unfolds through successive rings of finely articulated petals, allowing the gold zari to radiate outward against the dark ground, framed by slender geometric and ornamental zari bands. The pallu becomes considerably richer, opening into an expansive warm-gold zari field worked with minute repeating geometry and framed by the same aubergine, raspberry and gold palette. Explore the Butta collection, or browse the wider pure silk Kanchipuram collection for more of this character.
Styling: Pair it with a deep aubergine blouse to continue the dramatic border colour, or choose raspberry magenta for a more festive contrast. Antique gold jewellery works especially well with the warm zari, while a restrained ruby or deep-pink accent can quietly echo the raspberry bands.
