Smoked Cocoa Plum Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjeevaram Saree with Antique Pon Zari Border and Emerald Green Edge
Smoked Cocoa Plum Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjeevaram Saree with Antique Pon Zari Border and Emerald Green Edge
A shadowed cocoa-plum silk, somewhere between dark fig, old rosewood and aubergine, gives this handwoven pure silk Kanjeevaram an unusually deep and antique character. The colour is neither straightforward brown nor purple. It carries the muted richness of polished dark wood under warm evening light.
❖ Handwoven to order, not mass-produced. This Butta saree spends approximately 8 to 10 active days on the loom and cannot be replicated by machine.

The body follows a restrained Butta composition, with small individually woven gold zari motifs spaced quietly across the sombre silk. Their measured placement leaves generous areas of the smoked cocoa-plum body uninterrupted, making the richness of the border feel even more dramatic.
The border is the statement. A broad field of burnished Antique Pon Gold zari is densely worked with scalloped floral ornament, layered geometric bands and intricate traditional detailing. The lower zari field carries a rich interlocking texture, framed above and below by fine ornamental registers that create extraordinary visual depth.
At the very edge, a narrow line of deep emerald green appears almost unexpectedly. Against the cocoa-plum silk and burnished gold, that jewel-like green edge sharpens the entire composition and gives the saree a distinctive old-world Kanchipuram character.
The pallu continues the same dark, burnished palette, opening into a broad antique-gold zari field with a dense fine chevron-like texture and layered linear registers. The effect is quietly magnificent: a restrained shadowed body giving way to concentrated gold.
Styling: Keep the palette deep and deliberate. Pair it with a smoked aubergine, dark chocolate, antique-gold or emerald-green silk blouse. Choose one substantial traditional gold element rather than several competing pieces, and let the narrow green edge remain visible in the drape.
Blouse Piece Included: 0.8m running blouse piece included. Colour and design are not separately confirmed from the supplied product photographs. See our Blouse Stitching Guide.
