Fine horizontal zari stripes travel across a pale silver-lilac body before meeting the saturated magenta Varisaipet border. The repeated bands create a measured rhythm through the saree, becoming considerably denser at the border and pallu. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 16 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.

Border: Saturated magenta frames rows of stacked zari work, with multiple narrow and broader registers creating a substantial border without interrupting the pale body.

Pallu: The pallu develops into a dense warm-gold zari field, framed by magenta and repeated ornamental bands.

Styling: A plain magenta blouse will sharpen the contrast, while a silver-lilac blouse gives a quieter finish. Choose long antique-gold earrings and a clean pleat to echo the saree's repeated horizontal rhythm.

Suitable for Diwali, Vijayadashami, weddings, receptions, temple celebrations, festive occasions, ceremonies, cultural gatherings and special occasions.

What is Varisaipet?
Varisaipet is a traditional multi-band border arrangement. The repeated rows create a strong linear rhythm along the saree edge.
What is distinctive about the body of this saree?
Fine horizontal zari stripes run across the silver-lilac body, giving the silk a subtle metallic rhythm before the design becomes denser at the border.
Does the border look heavy when draped?
The stacked magenta and zari registers create clear framing at the hem, while the pale body keeps the overall composition balanced.
Can Idam Living make a custom blouse?
Yes. Custom blouse stitching is available to your measurements.
How should this pure silk saree be stored?
Dry clean only and store folded in soft muslin away from direct sunlight. Avoid spraying perfume directly on silk or zari.
