The Rettapet EditSarangi

Sarangi Lavender Green Grey Zariless Korvai Kanchipuram Silk Saree with Golden Mustard Rettapet Border

Sarangi Lavender Green Grey Zariless Korvai Kanchipuram Silk Saree with Golden Mustard Rettapet Border

Sarangi opens like a Kanchi garden after rain: lavender-violet beside deep leaf-green, then a cool breath of silver-grey. Broad silk panels are separated by the finest warm-toned lines, allowing each colour its own place. Against this measured composition, the Korvai border glows in golden manjal mustard, edged by paired dark rudraksha-inspired Rettapet bands. The matching mustard seer pallu is punctuated with delicate linear silk-thread work, balancing colour with quiet geometry. Zariless throughout, this is a celebration of silk colour and contrast rather than metallic ornament.

❖ Woven on traditional handlooms by artisan families in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, where generations of weaving knowledge shape every saree.

A zariless Rettapet saree: twin parallel border lines create a balanced layered edge, here two parallel bands of dark charcoal rudraksha-inspired geometric units along a golden-mustard silk border. The yellow is silk thread, not zari. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. Read our story.

Border Glowing golden mustard, or manjal-yellow, reminiscent of turmeric and the afternoon sun, with two parallel bands of dark charcoal rudraksha-inspired geometric units.

Pallu A golden-mustard seer pallu with delicate green-grey and charcoal fine ruled lines. Some of the mustard silk is plain and softly lustrous; the fine stripes are concentrated in selected bands.

Styling Traditional silk blouse in the main contrast shade, small antique-finish earrings, and understated bangles for weddings, ceremonies and Indian-American celebrations.
