Sandalwood Ivory and Vermilion Red Banarasi Kanchipuram Fusion Pure Silk Butta Saree
Sandalwood-ivory silk shines with champagne-gold zari beneath a vermilion-red border of flowering trees, decorative urns and birds — a grand Banarasi-inspired Kanchipuram expression. For a special evening, its luminous surface moves from soft gold to richly saturated colour, catching the light with every fold.

Woven in the Kanchipuram Butta tradition, this Banarasi–Kanchipuram fusion brings a substantial, dense-ply silk character to a richly ornamented surface. The body carries fine zari kattam-inspired gridwork and floral detailing, while Banarasi-inspired Mughal motifs find expression through the grandeur and structure of Kanchipuram silk. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 16 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.
Body: The luminous sandalwood-ivory silk recalls freshly polished conch and pale morning sunlight. Its thick, densely woven surface glitters in champagne and honey-gold zari: a closely ordered zari kattam-like grid and minute floral repeats bring texture and depth without overwhelming the warm ivory ground.
Border: A rich vermilion-red border, the colour of hibiscus petals and temple kumkum, carries elaborate Mughal-inspired flowering trees rising from ornamental vessels. Small birds perch among the curling stems; touches of muted sage green and copper-gold animate the otherwise golden floral drawing. The contrast is framed by finely worked traditional decorative bands.
Pallu: The magnificent pallu unfolds in broad, luminous panels of intricately woven gold zari, with floral geometry, decorative bands and a vivid vermilion-red ornamental section. The interplay of pale gold, red and small green accents gives this substantial silk saree its show-stopping finish. Explore the Butta collection, or browse the wider pure silk Kanchipuram collection for more of this character.
Styling: Style with a vermilion silk blouse, classic gold jewellery and a softly pleated pallu for weddings, formal celebrations and traditional gatherings.
