Sandalwood Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchi Pattu Saree with Pillar-Box Red Korvai Border
Sandalwood Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchi Pattu Saree with Pillar-Box Red Korvai Border
For the Indian consulate's Independence Day reception on August 15th, this refined Chandanam sandalwood-beige handwoven pure silk Kanchipuram saree is woven in the Korvai style. Each saree involves two separate weaving processes — the Korvai construction requires body and border to be woven on separate looms before structural interlocking. 45 days on the loom overall and cannot be replicated by machine. From the loom of Kunnam village in Kanchipuram district, woven by the same families for generations. Read our story.
❖ Handwoven to order, not mass-produced. Handwoven, start to finish. 45 days — dyeing the thread, setting up the loom, and weaving the final piece.

The body is handwoven in a softly luminous Chandanam sandalwood-beige pure mulberry silk, kept understated so the contrasting border can take centre stage.
The bold pillar-box red Korvai border is marked at its join by a precise row of Pillayar Reku — temple-inspired zari motifs — and finished with fine gold zari lines, giving this understated composition a beautifully architectural finish.
Styling Tip
Let the blouse form a clean colour block against the body — pillar-box red in a structured elbow-sleeve cut, echoing the border directly. Pearl and gold jhumkas keep the jewellery simple, with the pallu pleated crisply to show the Pillayar Reku detailing.
Blouse Piece Included: 0.8m self-colour sandalwood-beige piece, with complimentary tailoring through August 27 ($30 value). See our Blouse Stitching Guide.
