Sage Green Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Saree with Gandaberunda Buttas and Rettapet Border

Sage Green Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Saree with Gandaberunda Buttas and Rettapet Border

Krishna Janmashtami celebration at a local temple calls for a saree with graceful, regal presence. This handwoven pure silk Kanchipuram saree is woven in the classic Butta style, where individually woven motifs become the defining beauty of the drape. Each saree takes approximately 10 days on the loom and cannot be replicated by machine. Each saree comes from skilled weaver families across Kanchipuram district. Read our story.

The serene sage green body is woven from 100% pure mulberry silk and adorned with exquisitely woven Gandaberunda zari buttas. The Gandaberunda — a legendary two-headed mythical bird celebrated in South Indian temple art — symbolises strength, protection, and royal power, each motif carefully spaced across the silk in a refined rhythm. Explore more from our Gandaberunda motif collection.

The striking Rettapet border is woven in a vibrant royal violet-blue, featuring the hallmark twin parallel border lines that create a balanced layered edge — the signature construction of this traditional Kanchipuram weave. Rich gold zari floral medallions, elegant chevron bands, and intricate geometric detailing complete a magnificent frame. The grand pallu continues the same lavish zari artistry. Style this saree with a matching royal violet-blue silk blouse and antique gold temple jewellery for Krishna Janmashtami celebrations, weddings, or temple ceremonies — an effortlessly regal look.
