Rust Red Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchi Pattu Saree with Vairaoosi Shimmer and Deep Aubergine Zari Border
Rust Red Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchi Pattu Saree with Vairaoosi Shimmer and Deep Aubergine Zari Border
An Indian consulate Independence Day reception — August 15th — calls for a saree of rich, patriotic elegance. Fine needle-like zari lines are woven continuously across the rust red pure mulberry silk body, creating a delicate all-over shimmer, with petite gold zari buttas placed throughout for a balanced, elegant finish. Each saree takes 45 days from dyeing to weaving and cannot be replicated by machine. Sourced directly from the weaver families of Kunnam village in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu. Read our story.
The body is a rich rust red pure mulberry silk, densely woven in the traditional Vairaoosi pattern — fine needle-like zari lines run continuously across the fabric for a delicate all-over shimmer, with petite gold zari buttas placed throughout for balance. This is a signature Kanchipuram pure silk Kanchipuram construction, prized for its refined ribbed effect.
The broad deep aubergine contrast border is richly woven in antique-gold zari with prominent Yazhi motifs, framed by delicate ornamental detailing. A grand gold zari pallu with intricate geometric weaving completes the saree, finished with coordinated rust-red and aubergine tassels for a polished touch.
A striking choice for weddings, temple celebrations, festive gatherings, and classical occasions. Pair with a deep aubergine or antique gold silk blouse and statement gold jewellery — a temple necklace and jhumkas — for a rich, ceremonial finish.
