Royal Violet Purple Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram Vairaoosi Saree with Traditional Bird Zari Motifs and Grand Antique Gold Pallu
Royal Violet Purple Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram Vairaoosi Saree with Traditional Bird Zari Motifs and Grand Antique Gold Pallu
Royal Violet Purple gives this handwoven pure silk Kanjivaram Vairaoosi saree a vivid jewel-toned presence. Extremely fine antique-gold zari lines run continuously in one direction across the body, creating the delicate needle-like shimmer characteristic of Vairaoosi. The purple remains clearly visible beneath the fine metallic lines, becoming brighter wherever the silk catches the light.
❖ 45 days from dye vat to finished drape, with 20 of dedicated loom time for the weave itself.

This is a confirmed Vairaoosi composition in pure mulberry silk, with extremely fine continuous zari lines running in one direction across the body to create its characteristic directional shimmer. A saree of this type typically represents approximately 16 to 20 active days on the loom, although individual weaving time varies. Woven for Idam Living by skilled artisan families in the Kanchipuram district of Tamil Nadu. Read our story.
Body, Border and Pallu: Near the lower body, the disciplined linear field of fine continuous antique-gold Vairaoosi lines is interrupted by unusually large traditional bird motifs, their crested heads, patterned wings and long feathered tails rendered with striking clarity against the Royal Violet Purple silk. A finely worked gold border of botanical and geometric zari details frames the composition without overwhelming the scale of the birds. The Grand Pallu is considerably more elaborate, with a dense antique-gold field of minute diamond geometry at the centre and long framed registers of repeated birds along both sides, finished with fine pointed edging and additional ornamental zari bands. Explore the Vairaoosi collection, or browse the wider pure silk Kanchipuram collection for more of this character.
Styling: Pair it with Royal Violet Purple for a seamless tonal blouse, antique gold for a formal ceremonial treatment, or deep green for a traditional contrast. Gold jewellery and temple jewellery complement the warm zari naturally. The colour and intricate pallu make it especially suited to weddings, temple occasions, festive dinners and major Indian celebrations.
