Royal Violet Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Vairaoosi Saree with Bird Zari Buttas and Antique Gold Border
Royal Violet Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Vairaoosi Saree with Bird Zari Buttas and Antique Gold Border
Monthly kitty party with the ladies calls for a saree that will turn heads at the table. This handwoven pure silk Kanchipuram is saturated in a commanding royal violet, shifting subtly through plum, indigo and deep purple as the silk moves through the light.

The body is defined by the characteristic Vairaoosi surface, where closely spaced needle-fine antique-gold zari lines run through the silk and create a quiet metallic glow. Scattered gold zari bird buttas interrupt the linear rhythm at measured intervals, adding a traditional counterpoint without disturbing the discipline of the body.
The border is broad and architectural. Antique-gold appearance zari forms repeated paisley-inspired motifs and stylised bird forms, framed by fine geometric registers and a small temple-inspired edge. Against the saturated violet silk, the gold appears especially luminous.
The pallu becomes considerably more ornate, with dense antique-gold zari arranged into geometric latticework and long vertical ornamental panels. Repeated paisley and floral forms along the sides bring richness and ceremonial scale while preserving the underlying visual order of the Vairaoosi composition.
The colour story is striking in its restraint: royal violet and antique gold, with the fine linear zari creating changing tonal impressions of plum, indigo and deep purple depending on the light.
Styling: Let a deeper classic neckline anchor the look and add a necklace — with lines this fine and disciplined, the saree carries jewellery well. A polished-gold or antique-gold piece will pick up the border's warmth beautifully.

Imagine It Paired With: This is where the Vairaoosi's rich violet and antique gold truly comes alive — picture it paired with an elegantly embroidered or brocade blouse like the one shown here, where gold zari work on a contrasting fabric echoes the saree's border and buttas. It's simply a glimpse of what's possible.
And yes — we also work with Paithani fabric for custom blouses, so if you're drawn to that richer, more traditional finish, we can bring that vision to life too. Share your idea with us on WhatsApp and we'll help you design a blouse that completes this saree beautifully.
