Woven in the Rettapet tradition, this saree reveals An intense royal-violet purple, rich as a kathiripoo bloom at dusk, scattered with small round pavun-style gold zari buttas. A bright interplay of yellow-gold motifs against uninterrupted violet creates a beautifully composed body. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 18 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.

Border: An unusual stacked Rettapet border contrasts violet with warm, jasmine-ivory silk and lustrous gold. Repeated vanki chevron bands rise above a broad yaanai pettu with elephant motifs woven into ornamental zari panels, finished with delicate geometric framing.

Pallu: A grand luminous ivory-and-gold pallu, densely handwoven with fine all-over gold zari geometry, ornamental figured bands and continuing rows of chevrons. Its near-continuous golden surface balances the restrained pavun-butta body.

Styling: Consider an ivory tissue-silk blouse with a deep V neckline and gold-edged wrist sleeves, or royal-violet silk with stacked chevron trim on the cuffs. A long antique-gold necklace and a smooth low knot will complement the dramatic contrast without crowding the border.
