Description

Varalakshmi Vratam puja at home with family and neighbours. This royal-purple Pure Silk Kanchipuram brings together the visual richness of good-density silk with the fine linear character of Vairaoosi. Vairaoosi features fine needle-like zari lines woven continuously across the body, creating a delicate all-over shimmer. Handwoven by our partner weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu. Read our story →

The body is woven in saturated royal purple pure mulberry silk with a pink-violet cast, its good density giving the saree a substantial, beautifully composed drape. Fine gold zari Vairaoosi lines run continuously across the silk, punctuated by spaced circular gold zari buttas that introduce ornament without interrupting the disciplined linear surface. Explore our Vairaoosi Kanchipuram silk sarees and our wider pure silk Kanchipuram collection.

The deeper purple border carries substantial gold zari work arranged in layered ornamental and geometric bands, giving the saree a strong traditional finish against the finely striped body. The pallu becomes considerably richer, opening into a dense gold zari field framed by purple and elaborate zari side bands. The shift from measured Vairaoosi lines to the more opulent pallu gives the saree a beautifully balanced ceremonial character.

Styling: Keep the blouse tonal in saturated purple so the gold border and richly woven pallu remain the focus. Add antique-gold jhumkas, intentionally leave the neckline bare, and wear the pallu open over the shoulder. A clean centre-parted low bun keeps the overall finish polished while allowing the Vairaoosi texture to remain visible.
