Royal Purple Handwoven Pure Silk Kancheepuram Korvai Saree with Turquoise Blue Peacock Zari Border
Royal Purple Handwoven Pure Silk Kancheepuram Korvai Saree with Turquoise Blue Peacock Zari Border
A Tamil wedding oonjal (swing) ceremony deserves a saree woven with real structural artistry. Each saree involves two separate weaving processes — the Korvai construction requires body and border to be woven on separate looms before structural interlocking. 75 days from dyeing to weaving and cannot be replicated by machine. Our artisans in Kunnam village, Kanchipuram district, uphold this craft alongside our broader network of weaver families. Woven by our family's artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu — read our story.
The royal purple pure mulberry silk body is scattered with delicate antique-gold zari buttas, a refined counterpoint to the drama of the Korvai border construction. This is a signature pure silk Kanchipuram weave, prized for its structural integrity.
The contrasting turquoise blue Korvai border is woven with peacock and floral zari motifs, framed by intricate geometric detailing — a striking colour interplay reserved for grand ceremonial occasions. The pallu continues the turquoise and gold palette in a fuller sweep.
This saree is ideal for a Tamil wedding oonjal ceremony, reception, or any grand milestone celebration. Pair with a contrasting turquoise or ivory silk blouse and temple jewellery — a long haram, jhumkas, and vanki armlets — for a regal bridal-family look.
