Royal Blue Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram Butta Saree with Vadamalli Purple Contrast Border, Antique Gold Zari Buttas and Grand Mayil Pallu
For a wedding reception, a temple occasion or any gathering that calls for jewel-toned silk, Royal Blue gives this handwoven pure silk Kanjivaram Butta saree a vivid, luminous body, made especially striking by its contrasting Vadamalli Purple border. Traditional antique-gold zari buttas are individually spaced across the blue silk, adding measured points of light.
❖ 42 days in the making. From dyed silk thread to finished weave, with about 16 of that on the loom itself.

This is a confirmed Butta composition in pure mulberry silk, distinguished by traditional antique-gold zari buttas individually spaced across the Royal Blue body. A saree of this type typically represents approximately 14 to 18 active days on the loom, although individual weaving time varies. Woven for Idam Living by skilled artisan families in the Kanchipuram district of Tamil Nadu. Read our story.
Body, Border and Pallu: The body is a saturated Royal Blue with a strong luminous sheen, brightening toward an electric blue in direct light and deepening into richer cobalt and ultramarine through the folds. Rather than continuing the blue, the border moves decisively into a distinctly contrasting Vadamalli Purple, richly woven in antique gold with large traditional Mayil motifs, layered geometric bands and fine leaf-like edging — a deliberate colour break that remains one of the saree’s principal visual features. The pallu is substantially richer than the body, with a dense antique-gold woven field, fine geometric lattice, long ornamental registers and circular medallion-like motifs against the Vadamalli Purple ground. Explore the Butta collection, or browse the wider pure silk Kanchipuram collection for more of this character.
Styling: Pair it with Vadamalli Purple for the strongest contrast, Royal Blue for a coordinated treatment, or antique gold for a richer ceremonial blouse pairing. The saturated blue and purple palette works beautifully for weddings, wedding receptions, temple occasions and Indian cultural gatherings.
