Classic Varisaipet weaving defines the pure mulberry silk body of this Kanchipuram saree. A luminous raspberry-pink silk body is set with closely spaced, delicate vertical zari pinstripes and scattered small gold buttas, creating the soft, flickering shimmer of oosivaanam as the folds move. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 16 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.

Border: A richly layered varisaipet border stacks bands of gold zari, geometric linework, stylised peacock (mayil) figures, floral forms and silk-coloured separators, ending in a deep Arakku-red edge.

Pallu: A grand raspberry-to-Arakku pallu with densely woven floral creepers, repeating paisley (maanga) forms and intricate zari ornament arranged across broad panels. The contrast between open pink silk and dense gold work gives the end piece ceremonial weight. Explore the Varisaipet collection, or browse the wider pure silk Kanchipuram collection for more of this character.

Styling: A raspberry-pink or Arakku silk blouse, finished with antique-gold earrings.
