Rani Pink and Vermilion Orange Shot-Colour Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Saree with Gold Zari Buttas

Rani Pink and Vermilion Orange Shot-Colour Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Saree with Gold Zari Buttas

Chosen for Navratri golu visits and festive evenings with family and friends, this handwoven pure silk Kanchipuram saree is defined first by colour. Rani Pink and warm Vermilion Orange are woven into a luminous shot-colour silk that changes visibly as the saree moves through the light. As a confirmed Butta composition, repeated individual zari motifs form the principal body decoration. A saree of this type typically represents approximately 8 to 10 active days on the loom, with additional time devoted to silk preparation, dyeing, warping, loom setup and finishing. Woven for Idam Living by skilled artisan families in the Kanchipuram district of Tamil Nadu. Read our story.

❖ Nothing here comes off a shelf. 40 days of dyeing, threading, and weaving go into every saree, 14 of that on the loom.

The pure mulberry silk body moves between saturated Rani Pink, raspberry-magenta and a glowing Vermilion Orange cast depending on the angle of the fabric. Small gold zari buttas are placed at measured intervals across the body, including circular medallion-like forms and larger ornamental buttas. Their spacing leaves enough open silk around each motif for the double-shade colour to remain the visual focus. Explore our pure silk Kanchipuram sarees.

The broad border is richly woven in gold zari with alternating geometric and ornamental registers, framed by a slim warm vermilion-orange silk edge. The pallu becomes considerably denser, with an all-over diamond lattice in zari surrounded by broad decorative bands. The zari catches differently against the shifting pink-orange ground, giving the composition a deep ceremonial glow without losing the clarity of the body.

Styling: Let the changing silk colour remain the hero. Pair it with a plain deep raspberry, vermilion, or muted antique-gold blouse rather than another heavily patterned textile. Choose sculptural gold earrings or one temple-inspired necklace. A softly structured side-parted braid with a restrained cluster of jasmine keeps the finish traditional while allowing the broad zari border to command attention.

Blouse Piece Included: 0.8m running blouse piece. Colour and design are not separately confirmed. See our Blouse Stitching Guide.
