Ramar Blue Pure Silk Kanchipuram Vairaoosi Saree with Silver Zari Pettu

Ramar Blue Pure Silk Kanchipuram Vairaoosi Saree with Silver Zari Pettu

Ramar Blue gives this handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram an unusually clear, luminous presence. The body carries the fine needle-like woven rhythm associated with Vairaoosi, allowing the silk itself to remain visible beneath the ornament.

❖ Nothing here comes off a shelf. 45 days of dyeing, threading, and weaving go into every saree, 20 of that on the loom.

This is a confirmed Vairaoosi composition in pure mulberry silk, with a fine needle-like linear weaving technique that keeps the silk itself visible beneath the ornament. A saree of this type typically represents approximately 20 active days on the loom, although individual weaving time varies. Woven for Idam Living by skilled artisan families in the Kanchipuram district of Tamil Nadu. Read our story.

Body, Border and Pallu: Across the blue field, petite Chakram buttas alternate with small Annam-inspired motifs. Their measured placement keeps the body composed rather than heavily filled, letting the characteristic Ramar Blue remain the dominant visual note. The Pettu introduces a cooler metallic language. Broad silver-toned zari panels are warmed selectively with thanga-zari accents, while repeating Maanga medallions sit within finely framed ornamental registers. Narrow geometric Seer lines and the deep-blue selvedge sharpen the transition between silk and zari. The pallu becomes the most intricate element, opening into a dense diamond Kattam field in cool silver-toned zari. Minute geometry, ornamental side registers and a fine temple-point finish give it the architectural richness of an old-Kanchi pallu without losing the quietness of the blue-and-silver palette. Explore the Vairaoosi collection, or browse the wider pure silk Kanchipuram collection for more of this character.

Current Look: Blue sarees paired with cool silver detailing have recently returned to the traditional celebrity style conversation. This Ramar Blue Kanchipuram takes that cooler palette into a distinctly old-Kanchi vocabulary, with Vairaoosi texture, silver-toned zari and measured traditional buttas.

Styling: Pair with a Ramar Blue blouse for an uninterrupted tonal look, Silver Grey to echo the cool metallic pallu, or Deep Royal Blue for a touch more evening contrast. Diamond jewellery, pearls, restrained antique gold or silver-toned stones complete the look — keep accessories clean since the pallu already carries significant zari work.
