Radiant Neelam Blue Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Varisaipet Saree with Zari Medallion Border
Radiant Neelam Blue Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Varisaipet Saree with Zari Medallion Border
A radiant Neelam blue, bright as sapphire in full sun, with gold catching its folds like late evening sunlight. Handwoven in pure Kanchipuram silk, its petite zari Mayil Chakram buttas lead the eye toward an expressive multi-banded border and a resplendent seer pallu.
❖ Made to order, not off a shelf. This saree spent roughly 16 active days on the loom, in addition to dyeing, threading and finishing.

Woven in the Varisaipet tradition, this saree is distinguished by its ordered border rows, alternating silk-thread and gold zari bands. A saturated radiant Neelam blue pure silk ground scattered with small, petite gold zari Mayil Chakram buttas. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 16 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.
Border: An architectural Varisaipet border of ordered silk and gold zari rows, fine triangular accents, narrow ornamental bands and broad circular floral and figurative zari medallions.
Pallu: A grand seer pallu richly patterned with a close-set diamond-like zari lattice, upright ornamental zari columns and beautifully defined framing rows.
Styling: Pair with a Neelam blue silk blouse and old-gold jhumkas, or use a muted antique-gold blouse to pick up the large medallions. A clean pleated drape will reveal the repeating border rounds beautifully at a wedding reception or Margazhi music gathering.
