Radiant Lime Green Handwoven Pure Silk Kancheepuram Varisaipet Saree with Stacked Zari Border

Radiant Lime Green Handwoven Pure Silk Kancheepuram Varisaipet Saree with Stacked Zari Border

The colour leads this saree. A radiant lime green, touched with a fresher green undertone, gives the silk an unusually vivid presence, while scattered petite zari buttas and a deeply contrasted Varisaipet border bring it firmly back into classic Kanchipuram vocabulary.

❖ Made to order, not off a shelf. This saree spent roughly 16 active days on the loom, in addition to dyeing, threading and finishing.

Woven in the Varisaipet tradition, the saree is defined by a sequence of stacked border bands rather than one uninterrupted border field. Against the bright lime body, the deeper indigo-purple and gold-toned registers create a strong traditional frame. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 16 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.

Border: A layered Varisaipet arrangement combines several narrow and broad zari registers with deep indigo-purple contrast and a fine warm-toned outer edge.

Pallu: The pallu turns substantially deeper, with an indigo-purple field carrying dense geometric zari work and stacked ornamental registers.

Styling: A deep purple blouse makes the lime body feel especially crisp, while antique gold keeps the look more ceremonial. Keep the jewellery concentrated around the face or wrist so the contrast border remains visible. Jasmine or a compact floral bun works well for temple and festive occasions.

Frequently bought together

What is Varisaipet in a Kanchipuram saree?
Varisaipet describes a traditional border arrangement built from a sequence of woven bands. The layered registers create a more architectural edge than a single plain zari border.
How would you describe the green of this saree?
It is a highly luminous lime green with a small fresher-green undertone. The colour is deliberately vivid and changes slightly with the direction of light on the silk.
What makes the contrast pallu different from the body?
The bright body gives way to a much deeper indigo-purple pallu with dense geometric zari work. That change in colour and density gives the end of the drape a strong visual finish.
Does it include a blouse piece?
Yes. The total saree length is 6.3 m and includes a 0.8 m running blouse piece. Idam Living also offers custom blouse stitching.
How should this pure silk saree be stored?
Dry clean only and store it folded in soft muslin away from direct sunlight. Avoid spraying perfume directly onto the silk or zari.
