Pink Handwoven Pure Silk KanchiPattu Saree with Korvai Weave & Deep Purple Gandaberunda Border
Pink Handwoven Pure Silk KanchiPattu Saree with Korvai Weave & Deep Purple Gandaberunda Border
A Brahmotsavam festival at a South Indian temple in the USA calls for a saree of true ceremonial weight. Body and border are woven separately and structurally interlocked on the loom — the signature Korvai technique — here bringing together a luminous pink tissue silk body with a rich deep purple contrast border. Each saree takes 45 days from dyeing to weaving and cannot be replicated by machine. Handwoven by generations of artisans in Kunnam village in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu. Read our story.
The body is a luminous pink tissue silk in pure mulberry silk, its shimmering weave catching the light effortlessly, finished with delicate zari-woven floral buttas. This is a signature Korvai construction, prized for the structural precision of its separately woven, hand-interlocked border.
The broad deep purple contrast border is richly woven with majestic Gandaberunda motifs and intricate traditional zari craftsmanship, lending this pure silk Kanchipuram the unmistakable elegance of a classic Kanchipuram silk. The pallu continues the same zari detailing in a fuller sweep.
Comfortable to drape and effortless to wear, this saree is perfect for weddings, receptions, and festive celebrations. Pair with a solid deep purple or antique gold silk blouse and statement gold jewellery — a temple necklace and jhumkas — for a majestic, festive finish.
