Pillar Box Red Handwoven Pure Silk Kancheepuram Saree with Zari Kattam Checks and Grand Gold Zari Border
Pillar Box Red Handwoven Pure Silk Kancheepuram Saree with Zari Kattam Checks and Grand Gold Zari Border
A New Year's Eve Indian gala — a December 31st desi party with full silk glamour — calls for a saree of bold, festive colour. Fine zari threads intersect across the pillar box red pure mulberry silk body to form a luminous grid, enriched with prominent traditional zari motifs and petite accents. Each saree takes 42 days from dyeing to weaving and cannot be replicated by machine. This saree is handwoven by our partner weaver families in Kunnam village in Kanchipuram district. Read our story.
The body is a striking pillar box red pure mulberry silk, densely woven in the traditional Zari Kattam style — fine gold zari lines intersect to create a structured checked pattern, enriched with prominent traditional zari motifs and petite accents. This is a signature Kanchipuram pure silk Kanchipuram construction, prized for its luminous grid weave.
The saree is finished with a broad antique-gold zari border featuring intricate diamond and chevron detailing. Its radiant red-and-gold combination gives the weave a commanding ceremonial presence. The pallu carries the same rich zari detailing in a fuller sweep.
An elegant choice for weddings, temple celebrations, festive gatherings, and traditional family occasions. Pair with a pillar box red or antique gold silk blouse and statement gold jewellery — a temple necklace and jhumkas — for a commanding, ceremonial finish.
