Petal Pink Pure Silk Kanchipuram Rettapet Saree with Rani Pink Mayil Border

Petal Pink Pure Silk Kanchipuram Rettapet Saree with Rani Pink Mayil Border

Soft Petal Pink gives this handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram a particularly gentle luminosity. Across the body, petite Poo and Chakram zari buttas alternate with small Mayil-inspired motifs, their warm thanga-zari glow kept deliberately light against the quieter pink silk.

❖ Handwoven to order over 43 days — dyeing through to the final weave, no two pieces identical.

This is a confirmed Rettapet composition in pure mulberry silk, with paired ornamental zari border registers built through the loom's twin-band construction. A saree of this type typically represents approximately 18 active days on the loom, although individual weaving time varies. Woven for Idam Living by skilled artisan families in the Kanchipuram district of Tamil Nadu. Read our story.

Body, Border and Pallu: The contrast shifts decisively at the Rettapet. Saturated Rani Pink forms the border ground, while paired gold zari registers carry a rhythmic procession of Mayil motifs. Fine Seer lines and delicate floral edging sharpen the division between the pale body and the richer border. The contrast is what gives the saree its presence. Petal Pink remains soft and almost powdery, while the Rani Pink border brings depth and ceremonial colour. Gold zari sits between the two as a warm connecting note rather than overwhelming either shade. The pallu becomes richer still, opening into saturated Magenta-Rani Pink with long vertical zari Seer lines and repeated ornamental bird-and-floral registers. It feels distinctly old-Kanchi in vocabulary, yet the tonal pink-on-pink composition keeps the saree remarkably refined. Explore the Rettapet collection, or browse the wider pure silk Kanchipuram collection for more of this character.

Current Look: Tonal pink sarees with traditional gold borders have returned to the current celebrity saree conversation, showing how beautifully softer rose tones can sit beside stronger saturated pink. This Kanchipuram interprets that idea through Petal Pink silk, a vivid Rani Pink Rettapet and classic Mayil zari.

Styling: Pair with a Rani Pink blouse for a seamless traditional contrast, Petal Pink for tonal dressing, or Antique Gold for a more ceremonial look. Temple gold, Kemp, pearls or ruby-toned stones complete the styling.

Blouse Piece Included: 0.8m running blouse piece. See our Blouse Stitching Guide.
