Peacock Blue Handwoven Pure Silk Kancheepuram Saree with Gold Buttas and Deep Violet Zari Border

Peacock Blue Handwoven Pure Silk Kancheepuram Saree with Gold Buttas and Deep Violet Zari Border

Rich Peacock Blue meets deep Violet and luminous gold in this handwoven Pure Silk Kancheepuram saree, creating a colour story that feels both ceremonial and beautifully composed. The blue has the saturated clarity of a jewel tone, while the violet border deepens the palette and gives the zari an especially striking glow.

❖ From raw silk to finished saree: 40 days, including about 14 of hand-weaving on the loom.

This is a confirmed Butta composition in pure mulberry silk, with repeated individual gold zari florettes woven directly into the body rather than a continuous grid or lattice pattern. A saree of this type typically represents approximately 12 to 16 active days on the loom, although individual weaving time varies. Woven for Idam Living by skilled artisan families in the Kanchipuram district of Tamil Nadu. Read our story.

Body, Border and Pallu: Across the Peacock Blue body, small gold zari floral buttas are placed with generous breathing room, allowing the natural lustre of the silk to remain visible between each motif — the result is rich without feeling crowded, with flashes of gold appearing almost like points of light against the blue as the saree moves. The border creates the dramatic counterpoint: Deep Violet silk framed with broad gold zari registers and intricate ornamental medallions surrounded by fine floral detailing. The pallu continues in the same deep Violet, crossed by repeated slender zari bands that create a beautifully ordered rhythm before the richly woven lower edge. Explore the Butta collection, or browse the wider pure silk Kanchipuram collection for more of this character.

Styling: Allow the blue and violet contrast to remain the focus. A blouse in the saree's deep Violet gives the most seamless traditional pairing, while antique-gold jewellery echoes the zari without overwhelming it. For a cleaner contemporary direction, keep the blouse neckline simple, wear one sculptural gold piece and finish with a low bun or softly tied-back hair.
