Peacock Blue Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Saree with Zari Kattam Weave and Purple Border
Draped for a Saree for the bride's sister at a Chicago wedding, this peacock blue Pure Kanchipuram Silk saree is handwoven in the traditional Zari Kattam weave. Each saree takes 42 days from dyeing to weaving and cannot be replicated by machine. This saree is handwoven by our partner weaver families in Kanchipuram district. Read our story.
✖ Handwoven to order, not mass-produced. From raw silk to finished saree: 42 days, including about 16 of hand-weaving on the loom.
The Zari Kattam body in peacock blue — a spectacular shot colour peacock blue-green body — that elusive Mayil Kazhuthu peacock-neck colour where jewel-toned blue and green seem to shift into one another as the silk catches the light — handwoven in the traditional Zari Kattam style, with fine zari lines forming an elegant grid across the silk, and beautifully defined zari-woven heritage motifs glowing within the checks, in pure mulberry silk.
The border is a rich purple border, densely woven in gold zari with elaborate traditional detailing, finished with a deep peacock-tone selvedge that subtly frames the purple and gold and ties it back to the body, completed with a purple pallu continuing the elaborate gold zari detailing of the border, edged with the same deep peacock-tone selvedge.
Handwoven by skilled artisan families in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, using pure mulberry silk and traditional handloom techniques, this saree is perfect for weddings, festive celebrations and statement occasions.
